My name is Toby Milnes, I'm currently a Postgraduate student studying MA screenwriting at University Arts London. I'm a screenwriter who has dabbled in other aspects of filmmaking, such as, Directing, Editing, Script Supervision and helping out in other departments when I can. I have gained a knack for writing and filmmaking from my time studying BA (with Hons) Film Production at the University of Salford which has been a wonderful experience!
I've built a positive reputation for myself amongst my film course in the three years I have been there. I've written for films that I have directed, written for projects I have not directed, and just written for myself and the love of storytelling.
I focus my scripts entirely on characters, with the plot, theme and dramatic tension unfolding around the actions of the characters. By focusing on the development of my characters, I feel like I've created introspective, imaginative and heartfelt scripts that might separate me from other budding young writers.
My passion lies in writing but through directing and editing experience I've shown a clear understanding and control over the craft of filmmaking, and I'm sure my love for storytelling will only grow over time.
